Testing for contamination in meat production can be time-consuming and slow down workflow. The resulting quarantine period prevents the rapid release of food to consumers.
Especially suited for ground beef and beef trim samples, EMD Millipore Rapidcult™ E. coli Enrichment Broth enriches pathogenic E. coli, including E. coli O157 as well as other Verotoxin (Shiga toxin)-producing E. coli (STEC).
Detection of E. coli O157
Rapidcult™ E. coli Enrichment Broth offers detection after as little as 8-12 hours, but also allows you to incubate up to 22 hours to fit with your workflow. This makes Rapidcult™ E. coli Enrichment Broth a faster and more flexible solution compared to other enrichment media. In consequence, food products can be released much quicker – and reach the customer fresher. So in the end Rapidcult™ E. coli not only saves you time, but also saves you money.
Rapidcult™ E. coli’s validation is consistent with USDA-FSIS when used in combination with our foodproof® E. coli O157 Real-Time PCR Kits or Singlepath® E. coli O157 Lateral Flow Tests. Questions about the use of the EMD Millipore test kit by USDA-FSIS-regulated facilities should be directed to AskFSIS.
Detection of EHEC
E. coli O157 is not the only pathogenic E. coli. Other Verotoxin (Shiga toxin) -producing E. coli (EHEC) are dangerous as well. Toxin production is characteristic for EHEC bacteria. Rapidcult™ E. coli Enrichment Broth is designed for accelerated enrichment of Verotoxin-producing EHEC. Direct subsequent detection of the Verotoxins 1 and 2 from the enriched sample using the Duopath® Verotoxins Kit provides fast results of these emerging pathogens within only 24 hours, thus ensuring maximum convenience.
Duopath® Verotoxins Lateral Flow tests include a built-in control reaction. These AOAC-RI approved devices deliver definite results within 20 minutes after sample enrichment.
