Company International Accreditation Service (IAS)
Standard(s) Accredited: ISO/IEC Standard 17025, General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories
Service Summary: IAS accredits testing laboratories to help identify and qualify labs that are competent to perform a defined scope of work.
Description

Marketing Advantage: IAS accreditation can be used to effectively market your testing and/or calibration services to your customers. IAS accreditation is highly regarded nationally and internationally as a reliable indicator of technical competence. Most industries routinely specify that suppliers of testing services maintain accreditation by a nationally recognized accreditation body such as IAS.

A laboratory’s fulfillment of the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2005 means the laboratory meets both the technical competence requirements and management system requirements that are necessary for it to consistently deliver technically valid test results and calibrations.

As a full signatory under the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) mutual recognition arrangement (MRA), the reports from IAS accredited laboratories are readily accepted in overseas markets. This recognition helps to reduce costs for manufacturers, importers and exporters that have their products or materials tested in accredited laboratories by reducing or eliminating the need for retesting in another country. The certificates of accreditation for all IAS-accredited laboratories are available for public viewing on the IAS web site.

Confidence: IAS accreditation to internationally accepted criteria provides complete confidence in the quality of services provided by testing and calibration laboratories.

Transparency: IAS accreditation is independent and objective, and is based on a transparent accreditation process, which instills confidence in the accreditation results.

Competency: IAS accreditation provides evidence that laboratories render competent services in line with international standards.

Enhanced Knowledge Base: With its excellent knowledge base and team of technical experts, IAS helps to improve the quality of work performed by its accredited testing and calibration laboratories.

Prompt, Personal Service: Learning what customers’ scheduling needs and wants are for completing the accreditation process, and then developing action plans to achieve these objectives, is a priority at IAS. Our goal is to consistently meet or exceed the customer's expectations.

The Accreditation Process

IAS accredits laboratories by verifying technical competence and assessing their quality systems to ISO/IEC Standard 17025:2005. The process for becoming an IAS-accredited laboratory begins with the laboratory’s submittal of an application, applicable fees, and a quality manual. An IAS accreditation officer is selected to partner with the laboratory throughout the accreditation process, beginning with a review of the quality manual and the requested scope of accreditation. Once the quality manual has been reviewed and approved, IAS selects an assessment team comprising technical and subject matter experts to evaluate the requested scope of accreditation. The assessment team conducts an on-site assessment of the laboratory and develops an assessment report. Once a laboratory has satisfied IAS accreditation requirements and demonstrated competence, an accreditation certificate is issued.
