BRC Global Standard for Food Safety, Issue 7 from Merieux NutriSciences

The Global Standard for Food Safety was originally created to establish a standard for due diligence and supplier approval. The scheme has been bench marked and recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI).

ertification to the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety enables manufacturers to fulfill their legal and contractual obligations and showcase the sustainability of their Food Safety System. Its comprehensive scope of product safety areas, as well as its focus on legal and due diligence responsibilities, can provide confidence to both suppliers and buyers.

The principal requirements of the standard are HACCP-based and require implementation of documented and effective food safety systems, and controls of facility environmental standards, products, processes and personnel. Certification to BRC's Global Standard for Food Safety can bring a host of benefits to your organization, including:

  • A comprehensive approach to quality, hygiene and product safety, addressing part of the ‘due diligence’ requirements of food manufacturers and retailers
  • Clear definition of high risk and high care processing areas
  • An option for completing unannounced audits
  • Supporting continuous improvement through ongoing maintenance of your certification
